American alligator climbing over temporary fence. Many animals can climb the temporary fence such as alligators, softshell turtles, musk turtles, snapping turtles, frogs, and most mammal species. By creating a permanent guidewall that is at least 42" high with a 6" lip (as was done at Paynes Prairie), many of the species found along the temporary fence will be prevented from climbing on to the road way.
